Taxonomy & Evaluation-Guideline Design

Founder-led engagement · Paid discovery · English / Arabic

Before you label anything at scale: a taxonomy, worked examples, and a guideline document — designed with you, led by our founder.

What it is

Name the categories before you count them.

Most labeling projects fail before the first label — in the taxonomy. Categories overlap, edge cases are unruled, and three annotators read the same guideline three ways. This engagement fixes that up front.

Led directly by Primwright’s founder: we study your item corpus and business goal, propose a taxonomy with definitions and hierarchy, write positive and negative examples for every category, label a sample against it, and deliver the annotation guideline document — the same guideline discipline our books teach, applied to your problem.

Deliverables

What you receive

  • Proposed taxonomy: definitions, hierarchy, per-category examples
  • Annotation guideline document (versioned) with edge-case rulings
  • Labeled sample demonstrating the taxonomy in practice
  • Handoff note: what production labeling would require, quoted separately

Process

How a pilot works

  1. Corpus review

We study a sample of your items and your business goal, and agree the task definition in writing.

  2. Taxonomy draft

Proposed categories, definitions, and hierarchy — reviewed with you, revised against your edge cases.

  3. Guideline and examples

The written guideline: positive and negative examples per category, documented rulings for edge cases.

  4. Labeled sample

A sample labeled against the guideline, so you can see the taxonomy working before committing further.

Scope and limits

What this service does not include — stated up front, so there are no surprises in scoping:

  • A design engagement — production labeling is scoped and quoted separately.
  • Led by the founder personally, so availability is limited and scheduled per engagement.
  • English and Arabic only; no regulated data.

Next step

Start with a scoped pilot.

Tell us about your project. We review every inquiry against our scope — if it’s a fit, we schedule a scoping conversation.
